Working at Image Comics, familiarizing myself with their comics and graphic novels is just obvious, “Hello…McFly!” So currently I’m reading THE WALKING DEAD BOOK ONE a continuing story of survival horror. It is a graphic novel created by Robert Kirkman. Currently AMC is creating a television series based on The Walking Dead.
So far, a quarter of the way through, it offers some great zombie sound effects! We have your regular “RRGH!” and “RUH?” and “GAR” but my favorite: “GLAAK.” I don’t claim to be a zombie aficionado but I would say I’m somewhat of an enthusiast. I thoroughly enjoyed Shaun of the Dead, 28 Days Later and Zombieland. Considering The Walking Dead, this is my first zombie graphic novel and I am slowly bonding with the main character, Rick, but really I’m just wondering who’s gonna die!?
It’s black and white art showcases zombies that offer a very real apocalyptic and general destructive feel to the mood of the book. I am usually grossed out from them but not yet afraid. I am a bit desensitized for some reason, but that may change as I keep reading.
