I can tell you one thing. The Walking Dead compendium was too daunting for my brain so I just started watching the television series! I have read some of TWD so I didn’t feel too guilty. The TV series so far has received a lot of praise. One of my friends thought it felt like a mini series, which I haven’t been keen on relating to. I quite like it and find it’s creators are taking some enticing liberties with it.
Image Comics sent me a copy of The Saga of Rex, which is about the most adorable fox I have ever seen. I cried, laughed and wished for more. Totally worth getting it and passing it on to your friends.
Recently I attended a book signing hosted by Fantagraphics Books for a new epic by Charles Burns. He wrote the renowned Black Hole (which I should write about). This new book is called X’ed Out and is similar to TinTin. Check out this awesome interview.
At the moment, I have taken a break from comics as Fantagraphics has assigned me to some Monte Schulz novels. I am creating book club materials for them and if you have any suggestions, they are most welcome! I’m reading The Last Rose of Summer which is holding my interest more so than his first installment, This Side of Jordan.
To honor reading, check out this photo. If you like it, or are looking for a geeky gift for the holidays, you can get it and others like it at Unshelved (sorry the words are backwards).
