The Last Week in Comics

I have been getting caught up on season 8 of BTVS via trade paperbacks because I like reading several issues at a time but this puts me about 5 issues behind and season 8 is actually over. But it’s ok, there will be a season 9, phew!

Last week, comicsverse and the rest of the world heard that Anne Hathaway is slated to be Selina Kyle in the final Chris Nolan installment of Batman titled: The Dark Knight Rises. How do you feel about this? I feel she’ll look the part, but I worry yet. I have high expectations for Catwoman, but maybe she isn’t playing Catwoman as the news keeps referring to her as her alter ego, Kyle (thanks Lindsey for pointing that out). I hope they are portraying her as the Tim Sale version. That would make the most sense. Tom Hardy will be playing Bane which I am stoked for. He blew me away as Praetor Shinzon in Star Trek Nemesis. I think he will be a formidable villain as Bane.

To show my great love and appreciation for Image Comics, as they were voted best publisher by Broken Frontier, I will be dedicating a post a week to them and the comics that I’m currently reading, some of which are old and others new. In addition, unbeknown to my partner, Ross, I will be adding our reviews/opinions surrounding Invincible. We have most of the TP’s and as Ross is ahead of me reading them, I will be catching up and sharing our experience reading it with you! Whoever you might be, thanks for reading!

At the moment, I have started The Sandman by Neil Gaiman. I have read Gaiman’s work before in Smoke and Mirrors along with The Graveyard Book and Stardust but this is my first Gaiman graphic novel experience. It’s quite exciting and dense. I am enjoying the references to other DC/Vertigo characters like the Justice League and John Constantine. And there was a reference to my favorite celtic lore, the triple goddess or the maid, the mother and the crone. This should prove to be a fantastic read as I have heard it’s praise all over the world (really just the US and the UK).
