I’ve been thinking for a while that my blog and inevitably my tumblr need name changes. When I first started blogging in 2008, I didn’t realize there was a comic art festival in Leeds, England with a similar name: Thought Bubble which is going into it’s ninth year and I want to go to it! Slaps head. So, if you’re interested to see what brainstorming looks like, keep reading.
I feel a lot of pressure to come up with a matchless moniker that I could use as a sort of brand for my work as a writer. There’s always my given name which I love, Brittany Matter. Phonetically it’s: \ˈbri-tə-nē\ \ˈma-tər\. And it makes a lot of sense to just use it.
Whenever people ask me to spell my last name I say, “Matter, like space matter.” That usually works out. One of my nicknames in college was Subatomic Matter. I do fancy the universe quite a lot.
Itty-Bitty Britty was my childhood nickname, but that’s just too sweet for my taste.
I could create an anagram from my first and last name…Nimatry Terbtat! Hmm. Or not. Sounds like I’m a Divination professor or the genus and species of a bug…Nimatry Terbtat, Space Bug!
I’ve thought about keeping Thought Bubble Universe and shortening it to http://www.tbu.com, but that domain is taken…drat.
Separate from this blog, I have a professional portfolio…and it could be a good idea to move it over here to create a one-stop-shop. So, I guess a revamp is in order. Stay tuned, I’ll keep y’all posted.
