We walked that far today. Apparently, you are supposed to walk 10,000 steps a day for good health! That’s insane. I don’t think anyone walks that much. And I walk everywhere (b/c I have no car)! I feel like I saw all of London, but I know that’s not true since one of my classes meets once a week and walks 4-7 hours. Good thing I got those insoles.
I just watched a commercial for “Leerdammer” I think it’s cookies or something and the end of it said, “Resistance is futile.” I will be very impressed with anyone who can name that quote.
I rode the tube today with Greg to and from class. It was so efficient, every big city should have a tube system that doesn’t (i.e. Seattle). I like it. But it was weird when we got off in central London and every one was filing into a tunnel that was like a maze and then we went up this HUGE escalator that looked like it didn’t end. I felt like I was in 1984 and we were all drones on medication. Which may not be far from the truth actually.
There are ads everywhere. More so than in Seattle, maybe about equal in New York. The taxi cabs are covered in ads. It was somewhat fascinating, but I won’t go out and by the things advertised, I’m more interested in food. I have had some great food. Mostly made by my homestay mom. She made us fish cakes and homemade fries tonight. It was reallly good. More on food later.
It’s still unbelievable that I’m here. It kind of feels like a dream. It’s a really good dream though ;).
Peace and love!
that class where you walk 4-7 hours looks like a lot of fun, i wish my classes were like that

Since no one else has exposed the geek deep within themselves, I will step up to the plate. “Resistance is futile” was made famous, if not originated, by the Borg in the series Star Trek TNG. We are very much enjoying the vicarious London experience…always looking forward to your next update!
