I mentioned yesterday that I wrote while I was at work, the place where I fell asleep at my desk. Well, while I was typing in a sleepy trance a story came to me, so I jotted it down on my legal pad. Three years later, I decided to pick it up where I left off and gave it a name so I could save it to my computer: Novel Attempt 1. Two years have passed since then, and now I want to complete it, hopefully captivating people in the process, and cross the finish line in my own race towards creative writing.
I shared this unfinished story with my dear friend Heather and she gave me some indispensable feedback that I’m taking time to apply. I’m outlining the rest of it to be either a short story, a comic, or whatever it evolves to be. So, I thought I’d give you a preview to elicit intrigue. And by doing so, it lights a fire under my bum to accomplish my goal. Here’s a title and synopsis that are of course subject to change:
Ultraviolet Agents
The C.I.A. has two of their agents on assignment when a well-known actor gets accidentally involved. The agents are directed to go undercover as his bodyguards to use him for what end they don’t know yet. But there’s something strange about his newly acquired staff that he can’t figure out. He’s mesmerized not only by their secret spy-like lives, but by something else that’s otherworldly and impossible.
I was listening to the song “Memorial” when I had this idea.
